Subject Intent

 

To increase pupils’ prospects by:

Enabling them to think logically and sequentially.

Enabling them to gain age appropriate knowledge, skills and understanding of using a range of software and hardware.

Enabling children to maintain their safety online and to develop their ability to communicate respectfully and effectively.

Building foundations for a love of life, a love of learning and a love of one another

·        To develop an interest in computer science and computing.

·        To think abstractly and logically when creating programs.

·        To create programs and algorithms (sets of instructions, in a sequence) to achieve specific goals.

·        To solve problems in programs, by thinking logically and using experience of writing programs. (Debugging)

·        To interpret and represent data in various forms.

·        To be able to use a range of computing and information technology equipment and resources, confidently.

·        To communicate respectfully, responsibly and confidently, when using ICT.

·        To treat resources respectfully, carefully and thoroughly to achieve goals.

·        To understand the ways that computing and ICT are used in real life.

·       To develop an understanding of the increasing importance of computing and ICT in the world.
