School and House Captains

In school, our Year 6 children have many roles and responsibilities. 

School Captains

Every year, Year 6 children are invited to apply to be a School Captain. The children go through a formal application process whereby a shortlist is drawn up. These children then present to the Personal Development Team as to what Upton St Leonards Church of England Primary School means to them. For the academic year 2023-2024, our School Captains are

Elsie-Mae – School Captain

Joe – School Captain

Eirwen – Vice Captain

Toby – Vice Captain

Roles and Responsibilities – School Captains

· To represent the school when required (Open Days, Ofsted and SIAMS Inspections, meetings with Governors)

· To work with staff and the School Council to facilitate running of events

· To act as a positive role model and demonstrate all the school values

· To support school leaders in monitoring the curriculum

· To interview children throughout the school about different subjects, collate the information and make presentations to school leaders and governors

· To meet with the School Council to discuss any issues and needs that arise to do with our school

· To meet with the Senior Management Team regularly to discuss the impact of new initiatives and makes suggestions for improvements

· To co-ordinate the Epraise shop

· To set up projects on specific topics e.g. tidiness

· To meet with the House Captains to discuss any issues and needs that arise to do with our school

· To monitor and tidy the prayer stations in the infant and junior corridors

House Captains

Every year, Year 6 children are invited to apply to be a House Captain. The children go through a formal application process and are selected by democratic vote. Each house has four House Captains.

House Captains for this year are:

Ash:  Oakley, Esme, Freddie, Lily

Beech:  Haya, Imogen, Evan, Olivia

Elm:  Max, Achie, Phoebe, Maisie

Oak:  Jack, Lily, Ryan, Ruby

Roles and Responsibilities – House Captains

· To act as a positive role model and demonstrate all the school values

· To support school leaders in the delivery of Sports Day and other House Events

· To lead House Meetings

· To meet with the PE Subject Lead to discuss sports matches and competitive inter-school events

· To meet with the Personal Development Team to discuss extra-curricular clubs

· To work as Play Leads during playtimes (training will be given) on a rota basis

· To work with the School Captains and Coucil Representatives to discuss any issues and needs that arise to do with our school

As part of our responsibilies we lead activities at lunchtimes and help run the assemblies, here are some photos that shows us in action!
