At Upton St Leonards C of E Primary School, we believe that the wearing of a school uniform enables students to identify with our school, gives a sense of belonging, is practical and smart, reinforces a positive work ethos and reduces expenditure for parents/carers. We ask that all children wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in school-organised events outside normal school hours.
All children have equal access to wearing school uniform regardless of their culture, race, religion, gender, disability or ability. This policy links to our school Equalities Policy and allows for individual sets of circumstances of all groups and individuals. Upton St Leonards C of E Primary School is committed to creating a positive climate that will enable everyone to work free from racial intimidation and harassment and to achieve their full potential.
Please ensure all clothing is clearly named.
Children should not wear jewellery (necklaces, rings, brooches, earrings etc.) to school. Where earrings cannot be removed from pierced ears, only a small stud should be worn in the interests of safety and covered in tape for PE. We also ask that children do not wear make-up.
All hair accessories must be in school colours and hair styles, boys and girls, should be sensible.
Please be aware that the PTA source coloured bibs for Sports Day so children no longer need a house colour t shirt.
All items of clothing and equipment should be clearly named.
All are embroidered with the school logo.
